A path to nowhere.

Man, Bike, Hill

“All paths are the same: they lead nowhere. However, a path without a heart is never enjoyable. On the other hand, a path with heart is easy-it does not make a warrior work at liking it; it makes for a joyful journey; as long as a man follows it, he is one with it” from The teaching’s of Don Juan.

So with the almost constant clashnacrona ‘journeying’ i felt i needed some paths that might bring out the warrior in me or indeed us as the bould Ken o Driscoll was along for some epic freeride blah de blah…

Singletrack or Notrack

Singletrack or Notrack

When i was out drivin with the family a couple months ago i spied with my little eye some lovely looking single track decending off the top of a saddle on the western side of Knockboy, in Kerry just over the border from Westcork. So out with the maps and there was no clear way to the top, a long hike either way but no possibility (?) of biking there. Unpreturbed we headed off up beside the river and found we could ride for 15 mins on some single track, and then about a 40 minute walk brought us to the top of the saddle so that we could look down into the neighbouring Valley. Then we turned around and got a really nice 15 minute descent, which if it was a little dryer would have been brillant.

As it was, it was very good, even ’sessioned’ a cool bunny hop for 10 minutes at the bottom of the trail near the river. It was a lovely day to be in the mountains and the place and peace of the valley meant that u forgot the walking and even the riding, replaced instead by a feeling that one only gets in the mountains, i can not explain it, and its unique for everybody, so i suggest get out of the small woods for a while and go feel it for yourself.
